Announcement: EGF Academy

After signing a memorandum of understanding with Mr. Ge Yuhong (owner of the Go-school in Beijing where our students are studying) and Mr. Luo Gang (chief manager of CEGO) for a cooperation till December 2016 I am proud to announce the EGF Academy. The start is scheduled for 23rd March 2015.

The EGF Academy will offer online-playing, analyzing and teaching in different groups for more than 30 players.
General manager of this project will be Viktor Lin, the vice-president of the Austrian Go Association. For details look at http://www.eurogofed.org/academy/

This is another very important milestone for European Go !

Announcement: Go Academy for youngsters in Beijing

According to the EGF-CEGO cooperation we will get in 2015 again the chance to nominate up to 6 promising players for studying Go in Beijing from 16th September 2015 till 29th February 2016. Last month (in a meeting in Beijing) both sides agreed that we should try to find younger players for this project. Our friends in Beijing are checking several points, for example under which conditions youngsters from Europe can enter an international school, parallel to studying Go.

So our goal in Europe should be to find players younger than 18, maybe 16 years old, best case 14 years old. It will not be easy to convince parents to send their children to China. But the message of today: Please look on your youngsters. If you have a candidate, Zhao Baolong, the chinese Pro, coming back to Europe in March, will test these promising boys and girls.
The clear statement of our friends from CEGO: We want to support younger players, not only in Europe (see EGF-academy announcement) but also in Beijing.

Please don't hesitate to contact me or Li Ting if you have a candidate in your country and please spread these information in your organisations.

В России не видно особого желания тренеров отдавать своих учеников кому-то еще. Даже при том, что ученики этих тренеров давно переросли по силе игры. Не верю в то, что в Онлайн Академию много наших детей запишется. Хотя - 10 евро это почти даром.
Я бы и сам там сыграл ...

Как один из учителей лиги я сейчас разбираю партии участников.
Встретилась одна просто изумительная.
Гибнет огромная группа, потом Белые убивают не менее большую и отыгрываются. А потом ...

Супер. Вопрос такой: ты указываешь, что 249 ход в А9 - не ко угроза, и показываешь, что белые в один темп выигрывают сэмэай. Но что, если черные при неответе белых пойдут не в А7, а в Е7, и на D5 уже в А7? По моим расчетам тогда прямое ко "на все", и черные заберут верх обратно.

When did you learn Go and what's your goal in Go?

You may have seen that the website changed http://www.eurogofed.org/academy/
However it is not finished yet, so you will get further instructions to use the website in the future. We can start the EGF Academy activities on KGS even if the website is not done by 31 Aug.

Changes from Season 1 (not yet on the website):

-) Games at 16:00 CEST/CET and lessons at 18:00 CEST/CET. (Several people asked for the lessons to be later. The game times are still flexible so you can arrange it with your opponent.)

-) Forfeit games if players don't show up at scheduled time!!
(If the opponent didn't arrange a new time with you, by e- mail/facebook/KGS/website, and he doesn't come on KGS until around 16:15:
-make sure your opponent didn't try to contact you
-tell me on KGS / leave me a KGS message/e-mail
-> your opponent loses game by forfeit)

If you lose several games by forfeit, you will be removed from the next cycle.
